Racket Fury: Table Tennis VR has been a solid VR ping pong offering for existing headsets since its release in 2017. The game is confirmed to be launching alongside Oculus Quest, which brings with it some interesting advantages which make for a very compelling VR ping pong experience.Racket Fury really shines on Quest thanks to room-scale tracking out of the box, and no need to be tethered to a computer. As long as you have the space, it’s easy to set up room-scale (or larger) playspaces with Quest. If you have enough room, you’ll have effectively have no limit on where you can engage the ball at the front of the table, which means you can even go for those leaps and dives to try to save a difficult shot. Because Quest doesn’t require that you face in any specific direction, I was able to maximize my available space by orienting the virtual ping pong table into the corner of my mostly square playspace. Image by Road to VRDoing so gave me the full diagonal length of my playspace for maneuvering, opening up enough area that I never felt like I was being restricted by the boundary and could engage the ball as naturally as if I was playing actual table tennis. The lack of any tether on Quest also means not having to worry about my arm getting caught up, or reaching the end of the tether and yanking my computer when going for a desperate save. Along with Quest’s controller tracking handling the game with no visible issues, the result feels really good, and surprisingly similar to real ping pong.I’m just a casual ping pong player, but I definitely love getting some good spin on the ball or nailing that slam shot.

Racket Fury’s default physics setting is ‘Arcade’, which does an amazingly good job of reading my intentions. Adjusting the paddle rotation so that it felt right in my hand was essential, but once I dialed it in I could put spin on the ball in any direction, easily hit front hand, back hand, and drop slam shots, and all of it felt as satisfying as real ping pong. There’s also a ‘Simulation’ physics setting which demands more paddle precision in both position and force to get the ball where you want it to go.

If you haven't tried the eleven alpha you should, every one who plays it agrees it has the most accurate ping pong physics. Today we released the update which merges ping pong waves vr with the physics from eleven.' ' EDIT: also we are doing a giveaway on the front page of vive currently, go grab a key and check it out!

Simulation mode offers greater challenge and is fun in its own right, though I leaned toward the Arcade setting so that I could focus less on precision and more on the overall strategy of when, where, and how to hit the ball back to the opponent. This Quest launch trailer for the game shows some of the Simulation physics in action:I spent a few hours going up against the AI in Racket Fury and really quite enjoyed it—it’s ping pong after all, and I imagine anyone who enjoys some casual playing will feel the same (just don’t forget to adjust your paddle rotation!). What’s more, I could feel the game engaging my upper body muscles; it’s not exactly a workout, but a little bonus exercise while having fun is never a bad thing. The game also features a multiplayer mode which I’m excited to try, though as Quest isn’t out yet there was no sparring partner available just yet. Racket Fury will allow cross-play between Quest and PC headsets, which ought to make it a great way to connect Rift, Vive, and Quest players.Update (May 16th, 2019): Developer Pixel Edge Games has confirmed that Racket Fury will support cross-buy between Quest and Rift, as well as cross-platform multiplayer. This info has been added to the article above. It was a startup, which involves user risk when donating funds! Crimeny, do I even have to explain this?!

Nothing was guaranteed to backers and of course this is how business works. Some Startups go under, or the company at hand changes it’s game-plan. Think if you were making business decisions as a developer, your very future livelihood might be at stake! I feel Zero% sorry for the backers nor think they’re a shady company just because something went screwy and fell under! At least give them credence for the fact they managed do successfully create and develop something at all! Wouldn’t you want to celebrate others successes?

In this modern day and age of over-scrutiny of everything!! It’s like folks are boycotting things left and right over the stupidest reasons!! I remember back in the day folks started a Smear Campain aginst procter and Gamble, as being somehow “Occult” because of logo designs / symbolism of Pagan Star stuff, but it was just a total fabricated junk of nonsense some disgruntled person made up and promoted, prob an ex disgruntled employee who had the means and influence to push said Smear Campaign! I mean just look what they did to Roseanne T.V. Over a silly dumb Twitter-Post?!! James Gunn fired from directing Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, all sorts of hypocritical, silly and down right ludicrous actions taken against a select few, when so many others in Hollywood or business get away with worse!! It’s a total Witch-Hunt!

Ping Pong Games

I mean now Pewdie Pie brings to our attention the Truth of James Charles as possibly being a Victim of a similar Smear Campaign, though I can’t say for certain if the allegations against Charles is true or not, but at least it makes you think at the possibility of others in power and positions of influence, how it’s probable that they’ve the ability to destroy your entire career or company out of spite! Heck, its’ been said that Charles Manson could have been totally innocent, he just lacked a good defense attorney, but the media portrayed him as a total Murderous Monster! Think outside conventional wisdom and question all you’ve been told is the truth! There’s many cover ups and scandals, unless you or I were present at the scene of the crime, we’ll never know without indisputable evidence, what truly transpires with such things! Like for example, what truly happened with the Kennedy Assassination!.

Stereolabs debuted an AR ping pong demo at Augmented World Expo recently. Though we didn’t get the chance to try it, the creators sent us along a video showing the game being played in a pair of VR headsets with Stereolabs’ cameras showing each player an AR view of the world outside merged with a digital ping pong table. We have previously tried out Stereolabs’ cameras with passthrough and they provide a pretty good view of the word around you even though you are wearing a VR headset. I’ve tried a couple pass-through AR solutions and, so far, Stereolabs is the most detailed solution I’ve seen. The multiplayer AR demo is a tantalizing one in light of, and others rolling out technology designed to let gadgets share their precise location with one another. The fact that you have to lock yourself off from other people in the same room while wearing a VR headset is one of the major reasons people decide not to wear one in the first place. Well-placed cameras for AR, however, could let players see through those lenses to the world beyond with digital objects inserted into view. Syncing up the location of those digital objects so that different players see the same mixed reality is an enormous technical achievement that will be key to the next generation of headsets. That’s what Stereolabs is previewing with its ping pong AR multiplayer demo. The demo video below shows two people playing ping pong as naturally as they do in the real world, but the game is completely digital.
